Description
Large cylindrical vessel with lid and bridge spout, with two decorative vertical handles under the spout. Three similar decorative handles with a small relief disc where they join the body are placed opposite the spout. The vessel also has two large horizontal strap handles with a grooved back, placed opposite each other high on the body. The surface of the lid, which has a strap handle, is decorated with crocuses. The body is decorated in brown on buff slip with motifs of the Alternating Style of the Special Palatial Tradition: bands around the base, palm trees, rocks, heart-shaped ivy leaves, sea anemones and a rosette. Under the rim are monochrome grooves and dotted lines. Found in the Late Minoan IB final destruction layer of the palatial building at Archanes.
