Description
Chalice (handleless conical cup) with disc base. Relief band high on the body and flat everted rim with notched inner surface. Decorated in brown on buff slip with motifs of the Alternating Style of the Special Palatial Tradition, such as lilies, sea anemones, stylised rocks, horizontal bands and chevrons. The excavator suggests that it may have been used as a flower vase. Found in the Late Minoan IB final destruction layer of the palatial building at Archanes.
