Description
Vase with globular body, wide cylindrical neck and handle, probably used for serving liquids. Use ware, stone tools and jewellery of the Final Neolithic found in the Idaean Cave attest to its use in that period. It has been argued that the Neolithic use of the cave was of a ritual nature. However, the archaeological evidence for this is unclear, in contrast to later periods, when the Idaean Cave became one of the most important cult caves of Crete, mythologically associated with the god Zeus.
