Description
Model of a human leg. It represents a whole right leg from the thigh to the toes, which are rendered with incisions. Traces of white paint are preserved in various areas. In the flattened upper end of the thigh is a hole from which the object could be suspended by a string. The model leg belongs to a group of votives at Petsophas depicting torsos cut vertically in half (half-bodies) and human body parts such as arms and legs. They are believed to be offerings made by sick people praying to the deity for healing of the specific body part depicted.
