Description
Standing female figurines with hands raised in front of the face. The figure is wearing a hat and a wide skirt. The skirt is hollow and functions as the base of the figurines, which is painted solid brownish-red. Standing male and female figurines making gestures of adoration have been found in large numbers in open-air shrines and are believed to be votives representing worshippers. However, they have also been found in settlements, where they often signal the existence of a domestic shrine or rituals, especially when discovered together with other ritual objects. This female figurine was found with two male figurines and the head of a fourth figurines in Room 2, outside the east side of the oval building on the peak of Souvloto Mouri, Chamaizi. They may be associated with a room on that side of the building which was used as a shrine.
