Description
Clay male figurine. The figure stands with arms bent in front of the chest. The shoulders are quite wide, while the body is triangular. The figure is wearing a short loincloth folded over the belt at front and back. The facial features are rendered in relief. The figurine was found in Block Π in Palaikastro, on the east side of street Ξ-Π, and is dated to the Late Minoan ΙΙΙΒ period (1300-1200 BC). The tendency to set the face apart from the rest of the body and the stressing of the facial features are elements of the middle phase of Postpalatial figurines. The upper body is also highlighted compared to the lower body, which is narrower.
