For the dead. From personal event to communal practices
Description
Jug in the shape of a chick with open beak as though waiting to be fed. At the sides of the body are folded wings which are highlighted with incisions, as is the wide tail. The head and neck are emphasised, as they are disproportionately large compared to the body. A similar, smaller vessel was found in the same part of the cemetery of Koumasa, together with other zoomorphic and anthropomorphic vessels. They were all probably used for pouring libations at funerary rituals.
