Description
At the beginning of the Late Bronze Age, the dominant trend in vase-painting was for naturalistic or stylised floral and vegetal themes. This semiglobular cup is decorated with spiralling leafy sprays and simple horizonal bands, The use of dark, glossy paint on a burnished surface, and the high-quality production and skilled firing of the vessel, bear witness to the technological achievements of the potters active in the major centres of Minoan Crete at the peak of the New Palaces.
