Description
Palm-leaf tablet recording a total of 10,000 sheep on the front and more than 9,000 sows on the back. Approximately 100,000 sheep and the shepherds or overseers of the flocks are recorded in the archives at our disposal. The meticulous documentation of sheep farming, even in remote regions such as West Crete, was necessary to the success of this vital cloth-making sector.
