Late Bronze Age - Final Palatial period (1450-1300 BC). The Knossos monopalatial system
Economy and administration. Linear B script. Economic data
Description
Record of the annual levy of olive oil sent by Amnissos to the palace under the obligatory taxation system called apydosis (a-pu-do-si). This system was the main source of income for the palatial authority. It is worth noting that the numerous geographical toponyms recorded on the Knossian tablets attest to varying levels of control over most of the island. However, the tablets provide snapshots of economic life rather than the full range of productive activities of the period.
