Description
Imported Egyptian vase of the 18th Dynasty (16th-14th c.) in the form of an alabaster hydria. Found in the Minoan Cemetery of Knossos. Originally an Egyptian imitation of a Syro-Palestinian type, it was subsequently converted into a rhyton by drilling a hole in its base. Converting Egyptian vases into vessels more in keeping with Minoan aesthetics, changing their function, was a common practice.
