Description
Clay pyramidal token (nodulus) with seal impression of a male figure with a sceptre and a lion. Noduli served as bureaucratic proofs of transaction. Since they were not attached to goods, they probably functioned independently, as a sort of certified sealed receipt. The sealing motifs produced by the signet rings or seals of the parties to the transactions display a fascinating variety.
