Description
Clay hanging nodule with a single hole. Part of an assemblage of approximately 6,500 broken clay sealings from Room 25 of the palace of Phaistos, most of which come from the repeated sealing and unsealing of objects. This example bears the impression of a tiny seal with the head of a dog or lion against a net pattern. On one side is incised the logogram for wine, probably indicating the type of commodity involved in the transaction. Another five fragmentary sealings bear the impression of the same seal, which was 0.8 cm in diameter.
