Description
Bronze standing female figurine. It is exceptionally well modelled, following the naturalistic tradition of Late Minoan I, but unfortunately the details, particularly those of the head, have been lost due to surface corrosion. It is clear, however, that half the hair was drawn back on the nape of the neck, with the rest of the locks framing the face. Details of the clothing are also visible: the flounced skirt with converging flounces secured by a wide double belt, and the tight, short-sleeved bodice exposing the breasts. The figure is depicted in a variant of the more characteristic and popular attitude of adoration seen in contemporary figurines, with the right hand raised to and probably touching the forehead. The figurine was found in the Villa of Agia Triada in the early 20th century but its exact findspot is uncertain.
