Description
Gold toggle-shaped fitting, perhaps used to secure a baldric, a wide belt for a sword or dagger that hung diagonally from the warrior’s shoulder to his thigh. The fitting was found with a bronze dagger and a decorated strip of ivory between the two burials in Chamber Tomb III of the Venizeleio cemetery. This tomb is not only a typical example of a Knossian “warrior grave” of the early Final Palatial period but also forms a closed context, as it only contained two burials.
