Description
Gold hair-ring from Tholos Tomb A of Archanes Phourni. Hair rings were ornaments, usually of gold but sometimes also of bronze, used to secure the hair in bunches. They were made of thick wire or bent foil forming three or more spirals and bent at the ends. Five hair rings in total were found at Phourni: two in Tholos Tomb D, one in Tholos Tomb A and one each in Burial Buildings 3 and 5. It is worth noting that the hair rings in Tholos Tomb D were found near the head of the deceased woman.
