Description
Porphyry libation vessel/rhyton from the Treasury of the Shrine of the palace of Zakros. One of seven stone cult vessels of similar shape found in the palace. The upper part of the rhyton is separately made and attached to the body by a relief collar. The vertical relief grooves attest to the Minoan stone-carvers’ exemplary skill.
