Description
Rectangular stele with a dedicatory inscription of eleven verses, offered by the Eunomia, the council of the kosmoi (political rulers) of Lato. It describes repairs carried out to a sanctuary of Aphrodite and Ares, of uncertain location (Istron or Lato?)
1 [Δ]αμάτριος Κίλικος καὶ ἁ σὺν
αὐτῷ Εὐνομία ἐπὶ τῶι ἀφιδρύματι τὸν ναὸ-
ν τῶ Ἄρεος καὶ τᾶς Ἀφροδίτας ἐποίησαν, ἐπε-
σκεύωσαν δὲ καὶ τὸν λάκκον καὶ τὸν περίπατ-
5 ον καὶ τῶι δικαίωι τὰς χειάς καὶ ἀπὸ μέριος
τὸν χορὸν. ἔχουσαν Δαμάτριος Κίλικος, Πο-
λύτιμος Θαρσυφάνιος, Θίων Δαμοχάριος,
Ἀντιπάτας Πύρωνος, Θιοκλῆς Φύλα-
κος, Ἐνίπας Μναστίωνος,
10 Τύμων Κορύπτα, Πάγων Πάγωνος τῶ Θιο-
φείδιος, Πάγων Εὐθύφρονος.
Free translation:
Damatrios, son of Kilix and the other members of the Eunomia deliberated for the re-establishment of the temple of Ares and Aphrodite; they repaired the cistern and the stoa and the lairs of the sacred serpent and the dancing-floor. The Eunomia consisted of Damatrios son of Kilix, Polytimos son of Tharsiphanes, Thion son of Damocharis, Antipas son of Pyron, Thiocles son of Phylax, Enipas son of Mnastion, Tymon son of Coryptas, Pagon son of Pagon and grandson of Thiopheides, and Pagon son of Euthyphron.
