Description
This small spherical aryballos, a type of perfume jar, was found with others deposited as votive offerings in the sacred cave of Psychro. The body is decorated with black bands and elaborate wavy lines, with three rosettes in three triangular panels on the shoulder of the vessel. This aryballos is the product of a Cretan pottery workshop. It is carefully made of fine fabric. Its relatively simplistic decoration does not yet appear to have escaped the influence of the preceding Geometric period.
