Open-air Sanctuaries. The Peak Sanctuaries
Description
Open stone vessel in the shape of an escutcheon or heart, also known as a heart-shaped ladle. Stone vessels of this distinctive shape are thought to have been used for ritual purposes and sometimes bear Linear A inscriptions. They are found in sanctuaries and settlements of the Neopalatial period. Most of them have been found in the Knossos and Archanes area, including the Juktas peak sanctuary, where more than ten such vessels have been discovered.
