Description
Miniature alabaster cup with Linear A inscription around the outside. The inscription consists of 22 signs read left to right. It has been suggested that this is a conventional hieratic formula, perhaps an invocation or prayer. Inscribed miniature vessels of this type have been found not only in sanctuaries but also in domestic contexts. They are particularly significant because their creators and owners used them to display their literacy.
