Description
One of six similar stone figurines found in the burial cave of Trapeza in Lasithi. Known as “Trapeza-type” figurines after the place where they were found, they form a distinct category of Early Minoan figurines, clearly influenced by Cycladic-type figurines. They have a head with a pointed chin, indicating only the mouth and, faintly, the nose, a square body with arms folded under the breast, and a bulky apron. This figurine is thought to be wearing a kind of apron. A Trapeza-type figurine has also been found outside Lasithi, in Tholos Tomb A of Agia Triada in the Mesara.
