Description
Gold single-handled semiglobular cup with repoussé spirals and arcs, unique in Crete. It is evidence that tombs of the Final Palatial period were furnished with gold vessels and utensils as funerary offerings. Found with an assemblage of bronze weapons and the remains of a helmet in a chamber tomb named the “Gold Cup Tomb” in the cemetery of Agios Ioannis near Knossos.
