Description
Two single-handled “tulip cups” of similar construction, shape and date. Typical of a characteristic group of pottery from Central Crete, they have a conical base, deep body with thin, slightly everted rim, and black slip covering the whole surface. A drinking vessel commonly found in settlements and particularly in tombs of the period, where the known intact examples have usually been discovered, as grave goods accompanying the deceased in the afterlife.
