Archaic storage pithoi
Description
Large storage pithos with relief decoration in zones separated by triple relief lines. On the neck is a bull with geometric motifs on its body and traces of red paint. On the body of the vessel are three zones of tongue-pattern, spiral and zigzag ornaments. Large decorated pithoi were status objects for their owners. In the settlement of Azoria in East Crete they were found in situ, placed in front of the houses.
