Description
Terracotta Daedalic plaque with a standing female figure, her hands on her head. She is wearing a long skirt decorated with a pattern of squares. Traces of white paint are visible on the face and skirt. This is a Daedalic plaque, a common offering at 7th-century sanctuaries. These plaques depict figures with common characteristics, such as the frontal pose, the curly hairstyle and the strongly marked facial features. The garments of the female figures are often decorated with geometric motifs, as here. Similar decoration is seen on the seated limestone statue from the same sanctuary, which is thought to be the cult statue of the temple.
