Description
Ritual vessel of buff clay with painted floral decoration, an agrimi (wild goat) and birds. The distinctive shape with deep conical body, tall cylindrical foot and flat base marks it as a "chalice", a typical Minoan ceremonial vessel, which Evans compared to ecclesiastical chalices. The shape is dated to the Neopalatial period (1700 - 1450 BC) and was replaced by the kylix after the end of Late Minoan IB (1450 BC).
