Description
Intaglio ring stone. On the oval surface is the god Dionysus with the winged Cupid walking behind him. Dionysus, probably holding a thyrsus in his right hand, looks back protectively at the young boy. In the intaglio technique, also known as reverse cameo, the image is carved into the stone, which can be used as a seal by its owner.
