Description
Cinerary urn (kalpe). The body and belly of the vase are divided into three wide decorative zones. In the upper zone are human figures and cupids. There is a nude woman with a dog in her arms, a seated woman with a fan, and a man holding an infant. In the middle zone is a woman running to the left and a naked dog-headed child. Cinerary urns appeared in the Greek world in the Geometric period. They are usually richly decorated with various polychrome patterns and human figures.
