Description
Lower half of a limestone female statue. The figure is seated on a throne, her chiton decorated with anthemia and rosettes. This is a typical work of the Daedalic period, when Cretan art flourished. Figures with Daedalic characteristics are depicted in statues and figurines, on vases and jewellery. Their main features include the frontal pose and the elaborate "layered wig" hairstyle.
